Larimer Campus
Public Safety
At the Larimer Campus we strive to provide a safe and secure educational and work environment for students, faculty, and staff. Our public safety services include:
- Patrolling all campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds while enforcing state laws and college rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Performing periodic monitoring of security cameras.
- Opening and closing all campus buildings, maintaining the lost and found, and responding to all calls for service.
- Investigating and providing detailed reports of all campus incidents, student or employee injuries, minor vehicle accidents, vandalism, and theft.
- Providing emergency first aid and CPR.
- Giving safety presentations, providing personal safety escorts to students, staff, and faculty, and responding to all emergency and non-emergency calls on campus.
Lost and Found
The Public Safety Office will make every effort to find the owner of lost property. If you lose an item, check with our office. You will need to identify the item specifically before it will be released to you. If you find an item, please turn it into the Public Safety office with the time, date, and location where you found it. Remember to put your name or another identifying mark on your items, but do not use your Social Security number or your student ID number. Lost and found items will be held for 30 days.
Smoking and Tobacco Use
State law allows any college to restrict smoking/tobacco use on campus. Front Range Community College has prohibited smoking/tobacco use except in designated smoking/tobacco areas. Smoking/tobacco use is allowed only in these designated areas. Smoking while walking on campus is not allowed. There are four areas near main buildings and maps with these locations are posted at entrance points to the campus. Public Safety is charged with enforcing this regulation and will ask smokers to move to a designated smoking/tobacco use areas. Please use appropriate smoking receptacles (not sidewalks or trash bins) for extinguishing cigarettes and personal receptacles (water bottles, cans, cups) for disposing of other non-smoking tobacco waste, such as chew.
Parking
As enrollment has grown, FRCC has used student and staff fees to add additional parking spaces and pave all parking lots. Public Safety officers will enforce parking regulations through education, intervention, and warning notices rather than tickets and fines. Although there are no monetary fines, a system of tracking repeat offenders is in place, and the Student Code of Conduct will be used to deal with those offenders.
Parking Rules for the FRCC Larimer Campus:
- Visitors and students must park in only one parking space at a time and within the lines of their parking space.
- Only vehicles with valid handicap license plates or handicap placards prominently displayed where an officer can see them may use handicap parking.
- Motorcyclists should use motorcycle parking when possible.
- Visitors and students must never park in fire lanes.
- Drivers must not drive across a parking lot, but rather, should use the entrance for the row you want to park in.
- No overnight parking in any of the lots.
- The speed limit on entrance roads is 15 mph. A speed of 15 mph or less is suggested in the parking lots.
If an accident occurs in the parking lot, notify Public Safety at (970) 204-8124 as soon as possible, and they will determine if Fort Collins Police Services need to be notified.
