Brittany Minghella
Brittany wants to get in on the ground floor of an explosion in job growth in health information technology. “With the federal government wanting an electronic medical records system by 2014, this business is booming,” she says. “I want to get into it as fast as I can.” So after a year of studying at the University of West Virginia, Brittany came back to Colorado and enrolled at FRCC to study Health Information Technology. “I like the technical aspect of it,” she says. “I like how emerging technologies can improve health care.” The introductory HIT course “brushed across everything, not just health information, but also ethics and confidentiality,” she says. Her instructor, Christian Iheukwumere, “has become a kind of mentor. I want to keep in touch with him.” After earning her Associate of Applied Science degree, Brittany plans to seek a bachelor’s degree in health information technology.
