Health Information Technology Success Story

Sarah Pantua

Working in health care has always been a goal for Sarah, but she knew her interest wasn’t in direct patient care. Health Information Technology is the right fit for her. Opportunities are varied, and she will become an important part of the health-care team. Sarah was a cosmetician for six years and a stay-at-home mom for another six. “It was time to do something for me,” she says of enrolling at FRCC. She is on track to have an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology in Spring 2013. She is looking forward to her practicum and internship. It may help her decide what to pursue. “My mind is set in two directions,” she says. “I’m enjoying my coding classes. Two of my professors have worked in hospital settings. Another option is to transfer for a bachelor’s degree. I think many people have a misconception of what health information technology is about. There are so many avenues you can take.”
