Multimedia Technology Success Story

Tonya Ambrose

After a degree in journalism/public relations from Oklahoma State University and an 11-year career as an administrative assistant and marketing assistant, Tonya was laid off when her company relocated in 2005. “I was familiar with graphic design from my past jobs and really liked it, but I needed a program to teach me design skills,” says Tonya. She chose FRCC’s A.A.S. in Multimedia Technology (print and presentation concentration), which was close to home and offered the full graphic design program she sought. “The program was very ‘real world’ and gave us a background in more than just specific graphic design computer software.” When she graduated in 2007, Tonya landed a job at GE Analytical Instruments, where she designs everything from brochures to packaging to trade show booths. “Getting this degree was definitely worth it. The instructors, who work in the field, were wonderful and so invested in their students. I gained a really transferable skill set. It’s perfect for me—more so than I even thought it would be.”
