Get Started Advising for New Students

FRCC students give new students the scoop on how to succeed. In 45 minutes you will learn how to:

  • Read the schedule/catalog
  • Declare a major and degree/certificate porgram
  • Authorize the College Opportunity Fund (COF)
  • Register for classes
  • Access eWOLF
  • Pay for classes and purchase books

In the weeks leading up to the start of a semester, Get Started Advising is offered on the hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. No reservation is needed and each session is limited to 10 students. See schedule.

Second Step Advising for New Students

Meet one-on-one with an advisor to develop your first-semester schedule. Call (970) 204-8332 to schedule an appointment or simply drop by (first come, first served).

Other Programs

Advising offers several helpful programs for new and returning students, including:

  • First Year Experience programs and events that help new students successfully transition to FRCC and enhance their first year of college.
  • Personal counseling for FRCC students, including short-term one-on-one counseling, learning disability screening, educational workshops, and referrals to community resources. 
  • Single Parent Program supports single-parent students as they pursue their educations.
  • Career Services offers students customized assistance in choosing a major, exploring careers, and job seeking.
  • Veteran Services an informational and support program for veteran students seeking to use their VA benefits at FRCC.
  • Learning Community classes – an opportunity for students who will be taking ENG 090 or ENG 121.  These linked classes pair English with a general education course.  Talk with an academic advisor about your Learning Community class options.
