Disability Services

Alternative Text Formats

Disability Services offers texts in alternate formats for students whose documented disability qualifies them for this accommodation.

How to Make a Request

Eligible students may request a textbook in an alternate format by following the guidelines below:

  1. Disability Services must determine that alternate formats are an appropriate accommodation for the student’s documented disability.

  2. Students must purchase a copy of their textbook(s) and bring a copy of their receipt to Disability Services.

  3. To ensure that we request the correct text(s), students must complete and submit a request for alternative text to the Office of Disability Services.

  4. Students must be enrolled in the course(s) for which they are requesting materials in alternate format.

Submit Requests Six Weeks in Advance

Disability Services will make every effort to deliver alternate texts in a timely manner (a typical timeframe is four to six weeks). We encourage students with disabilities to purchase textbooks as soon as possible after registering and to submit their receipts and requests to our office. We cannot guarantee delivery of alternate formats for the beginning of a semester for requests received less than six weeks prior.
