Accuplacer® is a computerized placement test. The test is self paced (none of the sections are timed). The test consists of:
A mathematics test.
A sentence skills test.
A reading skills test.
A 300-600 word essay . (Students will be given a topic when they log on to the test. Once logged on and at the essay portion, students may write out their essay prior to typing it. However, you cannot bring a prepared essay with you into the testing center. All prep work for the essay must be done in the testing center while logged on to the test)
A science test only for those students needing to take Anatomy & Physiology.
Although the test is not timed we suggest you allow at least 2-3 hrs to complete the entire assessment. You do not need to complete the test in one sitting.
If you have ACT/ SAT scores or if you have already completed a college level English and math course you may qualify for an exemption.
Retest Policy: See testing center retest policy on main web page

What is CLEP?
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States today, helping students of all ages earn college degrees faster by getting credit for what they already know. By receiving a satisfactory score, you can earn college credits toward your degree for each CLEP you take, depending on the exam subject. **Important notice: Students need to verify with the receiving institution regarding the granting of credit based on a CLEP exam.
Why take a CLEP Exam?
Save time. Get college credit for what you already know. Be rewarded for what you've learned through independent study, advanced high school courses, noncredit adult courses, or professional development. Save money. Compare the cost of a CLEP exam, just $95, to hundreds of dollars in tuition. Graduate on time. CLEP can help you to the finish on time if you're a few credits shy of graduating. There is a $25 fee to FRCC and a $70 fee to CLEP. Visit the CLEP website for more information.
