Learning Communities
There's nothing stopping you from starting your own learning community -- a study group made up of your classmates.Give it a try!
More formally:
-
Brighton: The “Tertulia” Spanish-language social club, which is dedicated to improving Spanish fluency through social interaction, book discussions, and cultural outings, meets at 4:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Seek more information.
-
Larimer: This learning community, funded through a Lumina Foundation Grant, is available to people whose assessment scores fall in a specifi c range (your advisor will be your first guide). A “coach” will help you jump through all the hoops – things like financial aid, finding child-care resources, using computers, or personal issues that can affect your success. Mentors and tutors are available, too. Seek more information.
-
Westminster: Students can enroll in Basic Composition (ENG 090) and Sociology I (SOC 101) and know that the courses are coordinated so that as ENG 090 skills are learned, they can be applied in SOC 101. A second combination of classes – College Preparatory Reading (REA 090) and Psychology I (PSY 101) – works in the same fashion. Seek more information.
