Joyce Brubaker

Joyce is third-generation deaf and attended a deaf school in Kansas for her primary and secondary education. After starting her education at Gallaudet University, Joyce worked for eight years at a travel agency for deaf travelers. Joyce earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology and began a career in web design in 2000. Eventually she decided to study deaf education and attended Lamar University for her master’s degree. Joyce joined FRCC in 2010 from Rocky Mountain Deaf School, where she was a teacher for six years.
Teaching Philosophy
Joyce believes in immersion for future interpreters and creates authentic experiences for her students so that they will be prepared to interpret in real-life situations.
