    Faculty Training

    Online Learning offers a wide range of free training sessions to faculty to help teachers better serve their students. Whether it's a session about how to use Desire2Learn, our Online Instructor Certification course or sessions about the latest ideas in student engagement, we have sessions that are designed to suit most needs. Check out our training calendar  or training session descriptions with dates and then feel free to sign up for any of the sessions that meet your needs.

    Activate your course shell:

    See how to activate your course shell so your students can access the course materials. 

    Copy material between your course shells:

    If you have materials in a prior semester course shell or a Master course shell, you can copy materials into your current semester course shell.
     

    Copy material from a fellow instructor:

    If you have a peer or supervisor who has agreed to let you copy material, fill out the Course Copy form and have your peer or supervisor e-mail OL@frontrange.edu with their permission to copy the material. Once we have received both the form and the permission e-mail, we will copy that material for you.

    Upload your materials:

    You can follow these simple instructions to upload files or create your own materials for your course.

    Online Learning Testing Center Coversheet

    Online courses are allowed to offer a maximum of two exams per section per semester in the FRCC testing centers. To submit your exam to the centers, please fill out the Online Learning Coversheet for exams.

    Online Course Confirmation Form

    All instructors of fully-online courses are asked to fill out the Online Course Confirmation Form each semester to verify courses, contact information and other critical items.

    How can you ensure that your course is ready for the coming semester? Use our Ready2Run Checklist 

    Course access for students fulfilling an Incomplete

    By default, D2L courses close two weeks after the last day of class. If you have a student to whom you have extended an Incomplete, please request student incomplete D2L course access. (Remember that you must also fill out the Incomplete Grade Course Requirements form and turn that in to Online Learning.

    Teaching with Technology Grant application

    FRCC faculty and staff have the opportunity to apply for Teaching with Technology Grants to support innovative uses of online instructional technologies to enrich student learning. Applicants must receive pre-approval from their immediate supervisor and instructional dean prior to submitting an application. Award recipients will be selected by FRCC’s college-wide Learning Technology Advisory Committee based on the potential positive impact of the project on teaching and learning at FRCC.

    Develop a new online course

    Would you like to develop a course that FRCC has never offered in the online format? Fill out the Online Course Proposal form and tell us more!

    Online Master Teacher

    Do you know of an instructor who does an exceptional job of teaching online? Consider nominating him or her for the Online Learning Master Teacher Award. The selected instructor will be honored at various FRCC events and will have an opportunity to attend a technology-related conference to share their skills with other faculty, and bring new ideas back to Front Range Community College.

    Outstanding Online Student

    Is there a student in your online class who does an outstanding job of contributing to a positive learning environment? Please nominate him or her for the Outstanding Online Student award. He or she will be honored at various FRCC events and will receive a scholarship for a 3-credit online course to be used in the coming year.

    Drop-in assistance hours vary according to staff availability. Please call your local IDC coordinator if you have a specific need.

    We can offer assistance with:
    • All Desire2Learn usage
    • Screen captures (still and ‘live action’)
    • How to capture, edit and upload video*
    • How to capture, edit and upload audio*
    • iTunes U uploads (audio and/or video)
    • Scanning

    Equipment available for checkout:
    • PC and Mac laptop computers (short term use only)
    • Video cameras (Flip and higher end cameras available)
    • Still cameras (digital)
    • Tripods (Floor and tabletop)
    • Audio recording equipment (Sansas)
    • Headsets with microphones

    All IDCs have computers for faculty use. The available software includes:
    • Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publish, Outlook)
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver) (versions vary by campus)
    • Acrobat Professional
    • Camtasia
    • iTunes

    Books:
    We have an extensive library of books on topics ranging from e-learning to instructional design and much more. Feel free to drop into the Westminster IDC to browse through the books.
