As a high school student, Travis wasn’t convinced that college was his next step.
The cost, the commitment, the myriad of choices all seemed daunting to an
eighteen-year-old. Instead, he accepted a position in production with a local
newspaper. Which is where Travis quickly came to see the need for more people
with advanced computer skills. And how he arrived at his goal of pursuing a
college education in information technology the most affordable way he knew:
by starting at Front Range Community College.
Two years and a wealth of knowledge later, Travis earned his associate degree
from FRCC. True to his goal, he then graduated from Colorado State University
with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, followed by an MBA
from the University of Wyoming. Today? He’s filling the knowledge gap he
identified long ago, working as the Information Technology Director of New
Belgium Brewing. What’s more, wanting to offer other students the same
outstanding support he got from instructors here, he’s now an instructor
of computer networking at FRCC.
To which we can only say: Cheers, Travis!
“An FRCC professor once told me how quickly the two years here would go and
how far they would take me. I would tell students that your future self will thank
your current self for putting in this time at Front Range. You CAN do it.”
