Placement Scores

Be sure to talk with an advisor when selecting your courses to ensure you will complete your certificate and/or degree on time with the classes you need.

  • Students who have an ACT score of 19 or higher or SAT of 460 are exempt from taking the math assessment.
  • Students with an ACT score of 19-22 must take the math portion of the assessment test in order to place into MAT 121 or higher.
  • ACT/SAT scores must be no more than five years old. Otherwise, assessment scores will determine placement.
The math assessment consists of two parts: a 35 question adaptive test and a 19-30 question diagnostic test.
  • The diagnostic test you take will depend on two things: the score you receive for the adaptive test and which math class you plan on taking as part of your degree or certificate plan.
  • The combined score of the two tests will be used to place you into the appropriate math class.
  • If your adaptive score is 106 or above, you may choose to take the trigonometry and calculus diagnostic test to attempt to place into trigonometry or calculus.
