Computer Careers Exploration

The Computer Careers Exploration with Computer Networking Certification program prepares students to pursue careers in the technology industry, including: computer network support specialist, network technician, computer user support, and more.

  • Become proficient in entry-level computer networking skills by completing hands-on lessons and projects in the FRCC Computer Networking Lab
  • Learn about careers in the Computer Science, Computer Networking, and Computer Information Systems fields
  • Survey topics in computer science and computer information systems, including:
    • networking
    • cloud computing
    • virtualization
    • cybersecurity
    • computer hardware
    • computer operations
    • web applications
    • basic programming, application development, and software
  • Earn nationally recognized Microsoft Technology and FRCC certificates
  • Meet experts and professionals in the classroom and during field trips
  • Explore individual passions and interests through individualized projects
  • Earn placement in an internship
  • Acquire professional workplace and employment skills throughout the year

High School Credit

All students earn elective high school credit. See your counselor for more information.

College Credit

Ten optional college credits are available:
  • CNG 124 - Networking: Networking+
  • CNG 120 - A+ Certification Preparation
  • CNG 132 - Network Security Fundamentals
Students who successfully complete these classes and complete certificate program admission requirements earn an FRCC Networking Basics Certificate.

Optional college credits earned through this program apply towards FRCC degrees and certificates!

Apply Credits Toward a Degree

Students who wish to continue at FRCC can apply all credits earned to the Computer Networking, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity A.A.S. Many credits apply to a variety of shorter FRCC certificate programs, as well. Learn more about these programs.
