Natural Resources

Ray has been a student of natural resources for his entire life. Growing up “in the country” has transitioned into a lifetime of studying “the country.” From farmhand to logger, habitat technician to non-profit director and adventure educator to college instructor, the common themes in Ray’s life are a love of teaching and a passion for the natural world. In addition to teaching at Front Range, he currently operates (along with his family) Back of Beyond Farm, a small land management endeavor.
Teaching Philosophy
Context and place matter in education. The classroom extends beyond credit hours and class time to include the experiences of the learning community and the sharing of these experiences. Creative teaching is the outcome of flexibility, variety in methods of delivery and the application of theory, not just the knowledge of it.
