Teaching Philosophy
Teaching students to see a patient as a human being, a person in need, hurting and vulnerable, is the start of developing a nurse. Understanding how excellence is not only in performing the skills but in learning to read the facial expressions and subtle changes in demeanor that may proceed a change in physical condition. I want to bring to life a nursing education that includes real people with real stories that can inspire a student to reach down deep when the hours are long, and sleep is elusive.
I also strive to develop a sense of cooperation and teamwork within nurses. Learning that no one is capable of doing this job without their fellow nurses is a foundational principle in developing nurses who cannot only excel but challenge those who work beside them.
