Digital Accessibility Philosophy

At Front Range Community College (FRCC), we believe that equitable access to education begins with equitable access to information. Every student, employee and community member should be able to independently access and engage with our digital resources with confidence, regardless of ability.

Accessibility is more than meeting technical standards, it is a shared responsibility and a core part of how we design, create and deliver digital experiences across the college. Whether developing a webpage, creating course materials, publishing a document or selecting new technology, every member of the FRCC community plays a role in building a more inclusive digital environment.

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that accessibility should be intentional, proactive and continuous. Rather than treating accessibility as an afterthought, we strive to incorporate inclusive design into every stage of the digital content lifecycle, from planning and development to publishing, evaluation and ongoing improvement.

As technology evolves and the needs of our community change, we remain committed to learning, improving and collaborating to remove barriers before they become obstacles. Through innovation, education and partnership, we work to create digital experiences that welcome everyone and empower every member of our community to fully participate in the FRCC experience.

Our Digital Accessibility Program 

FRCC's Digital Accessibility Program supports the college's commitment to equitable access by partnering with departments across the institution to improve the accessibility of our digital ecosystem.

Our work includes strategic planning, accessibility testing, website improvements, digital document remediation, instructional support, technology evaluations, consultation and training. By embedding accessibility into everyday processes, we help ensure accessibility becomes part of the way the college operates, not simply a final review before content is published.

Accessibility by Design

We integrate accessibility into the planning, design, development, procurement and publication of digital content and services from the very beginning.

Accessibility Standards

We work toward meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA while supporting applicable federal and state accessibility requirements.

Continuous Evaluation

We regularly evaluate websites, digital documents, applications and online services using both automated testing tools and manual accessibility testing to identify barriers and prioritize improvements.

Accessible Technology

Accessibility is considered when evaluating, selecting, implementing and maintaining digital platforms, software and technologies used throughout the college.

Training and Education

Building an accessible campus begins with education. FRCC provides training, guidance and resources that help faculty, staff and content creators develop accessible digital content and documents. We also provide educational resources that help students, employees and visitors learn how to use built-in accessibility features available on computers, smartphones, tablets and other devices. These tools, including screen readers, magnification, voice control, captions, color filters and other accessibility settings, can help individuals customize technology to best meet their needs.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. As standards, technology and user needs continue to evolve, we continually refine our practices and improve our digital experiences to better serve our entire community.

Report an Accessibility Concern

We encourage you to let us know if you experience difficulty accessing an FRCC website, digital document, online application or other digital resource. Your feedback helps us identify barriers, improve our services and provide alternative access when needed.

To help us investigate the issue as quickly as possible, please include:

  • The webpage, document, application or resource where the issue occurred.
  • A description of the accessibility barrier you encountered.
  • The browser, device or assistive technology you were using (if applicable).
  • Your contact information if you would like us to follow up.

Different types of accessibility concerns are handled by different offices to ensure you receive assistance as quickly as possible.

Accessibility Quarterly Reports

Accessibility is a continuous journey and transparency is an important part of that work.

FRCC publishes quarterly accessibility reports that highlight completed initiatives, ongoing projects, feedback received from our community and progress made toward improving accessibility across the college's digital environment.
