Teaching Philosophy
My mission is to help students develop technical and creative communication skills using visual and narrative techniques for interior design solutions while showcasing their expertise with passion. I communicate technical information through visual and narrative presentations using traditional testing of knowledge and hands on assignments. I teach the students to question technical codes and standards, often revealing theory and the development of health and safety issues. I help connect the students to the professional industry by facilitating related field trips and product knowledge by manufacturer representatives of interior finishes to enhance their experience by exposing them to materials they will soon specify in the field. I ask my students to believe in themselves, to present their work with confidence, clarity and passion. My goal is to transition our students from an internship to a position in the field of interior design.
