Jim Vernon has helped students succeed for more than twenty-five years, while he has also grown many successful businesses and organizations as a consultant, manager and entrepreneur. Jim has served as a teaching assistant and adjunct professor at several colleges and universities since 1985, teaching a variety of business-related courses. In addition to his teaching experience, Jim has also worked as a management consultant in corporate strategy, financial services and information solutions. He has worked as a manager for a Fortune 100 company, establishing and leading the market research department and later the e-business department. He has also worked as a manager for an Inc. 500 company and owned and operated two small businesses, including small-business training and test preparation workshops. Jim and his wife, Shanna, have lived in the Front Range area since 2005. Shanna has also worked as an educator, both professionally and as a volunteer, for many years. Jim and Shanna have a daughter who lives in South Carolina.
Teaching Philosophy
Jim believes in “stealing with both hands” from the great teaching examples of his colleagues. He devotes significant time to professional development and classroom observation, with a goal of adopting at least one new teaching technique or classroom activity each semester.
