Day of Appointment

Please wear a mask and bring two copies of your paper so that we can maintain physical distancing. Wearing a mask is mandatory. If you cannot wear a mask, or if you don't want a face-to-face appointment on campus, you can make an online appointment with OWL LIVE.

Online Writing Lab

The Online Writing (OWL) is a service available to all FRCC students. Writing assistance is available via both synchronous OWL LIVE! video meetings and asynchronous writing feedback within 24-48 hours of submission.

Helpful Resources

Here we have gathered some reliable resources to help you with common problems students face when writing academic essays. Feel free to consult these along with resources from your instructor. Copies of all the handouts are available in the Writing Center.

Writing Center FAQs

Writing Center tutors do not edit or proofread your paper. Instead, they will point out recurring grammar or punctuation issues and help you recognize and correct them yourself.

Writing Center tutors are happy to discuss your writing project at any stage. Come in and receive help with brainstorming, developing ideas, organizing and drafting, researching, documenting sources, and using correct grammar and punctuation.

Bring in a hard copy of your assignment and a draft of what you have worked on already. We will read over your draft and help you see ways you can improve it.

Appointments receive priority over walk-in service, so at busy times in the semester, it’s best to make an appointment. With an appointment, you’re guaranteed a 30 minute session without waiting.

Please bring the assignment instructions, what you have written so far, and specific goals for the session.
