The Architectural, Landscape, and Interior Design with CAD Certification program prepares students to pursue careers in design-related industries, including: Architect, Landscape Architect, Landscape Designer, Interior Designer, Civil Engineer, Graphic Designer, and more!‚Äč


  • Learn about careers in design-related industries.
  • Learn the basic principles, elements, and process of design.
  • Apply architectural hand drafting techniques and computer-aided drafting skills.
  • Explore free-hand drawing, sketching, and simple perspective drawing.
  • Complete residential or commercial landscape designs.
  • Explore environmentally conscious building concepts.
  • Gain an understanding of industry practices related to contracting services, cost estimating, and project phasing.
  • Become familiar with the use, handling and maintenance of equipment and machinery utilized by the landscape industry.
  • Learn about building materials used in the industry, as well as plant materials and usage.
  • Improve confidence in project work and presentation skills.
  • Earn placement in an internship.
  • Acquire professional workplace and employment skills throughout the year.

High School Credit

All students earn elective high school credit (see your counselor for more information).

College Credit

Sixteen optional FRCC college credits are available:

  • CAD 100 Print-reading for CAD
  • CAD 101 Computer-aided Drafting I
  • CAD 102 Computer-aided Drafting II
  • CAD 115 Sketchup
  • CAD 185 Independent Study
  • HLT 130 Landscape Design I

Students who successfully complete these classes and complete certificate program admission requirements earn an FRCC Basic CAD Certificate.

Optional college credits earned through this program apply towards FRCC degrees and certificates!
