English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL classes offered at Boulder County & Larimer Campus only.

Improve your English reading, writing and speaking skills with our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. They will help prepare you for success in college and career. ESL instructors work with students to:

  • Understand, speak, read and write English for everyday situations
  • Improve your pronunciation
  • Learn about American culture and civics
  • Improve academic English and sharpen 21st century skills needed to be successful in college and career. These skills include problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration and technology.
  • Develop and practice leadership skills.

Important Note for International Students: FRCC does NOT issue an I-20 for the study of English.

Location

We offer 3 types of classes:

  • In Person on Boulder County Campus,
  • Remote on Zoom, or
  • In Person or Remote (your choice).

Register

All ESL students are encouraged to attend a Program Orientation which includes help registering for ESL classes. Orientations will be held in person in Longmont:

  • August 18, 9:30 - 11 am
  • August 19, 6 - 7:30 pm

If you are unable to attend an Orientation Session in person, you can sign-up to attend remote. Email Francis Schneeweiss to attend via Zoom. Be sure to include the Orientation session you would like to attend.

Cost

Basic/Low Intermediate
8 weeks session is equivalent to 3 credits. The cost for each session is $275.

Intermediate
8 weeks session is equivalent to 3 credits. The cost for each session is $275.

Advanced
15 weeks session is equivalent to 6 credits. The cost is $550.

Classes meet for six hours per week, with four hours of online homework, morning or evenings. Classes are available in Spring, Summer and Fall both mornings and evenings.
