EMT Program Admission Requirements

Students must be 18 years old by the first day of class or have Program Director approval to enroll in the EMT or EMT Clinical program.

  • Concurrent enrollment students whose high schools run EMS classes at their local high school campus should speak with their high school about requirements for enrollment in those specific classes.
  • Concurrent enrollment students who are looking to enroll in the EMS program at a FRCC campus location (Boulder County Campus, Larimer Campus, Westminster Campus) must meet with the Program Director for their intended campus to discuss their specific situation.

For students not currently enrolled in high school must have, a High School Diploma or GED or have completed 12 credits of college-level coursework with a “C” or higher.

Immunization Requirements

  • Tetanus (TDaP) vaccination within last 10 years.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series (three shots) or proof of immunity
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccinations (two shots or proof of immunity)
  • Varicella vaccinations (two shots or proof of immunity)
  • Documentation of seasonal flu vaccination (October – May)

Screening Requirements

  • TB test (valid for one year and must remain current throughout the program)
  • Negative 10-panel Drug Screen, specific information about how to order and complete the required test will be provided to students.
  • Students are required to pass a background check. Specific information about how to order and complete the background check will be provided to students.

Other Requirements

  • Students must have one of the following CPR certifications prior to clinical rotations (Deadline to have this completed will be provided to students):
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

* Students who do not have a current BLS certification can enroll in HPR 1011 at FRCC or complete an AHA course in the community.

  • Students must meet all requirements of their assigned clinical placement site, which may include specific vaccinations and/or other requirements not listed.
