Teaching Philosophy
Successful adult learners for the most part teach themselves. It is important for the student to know what it takes to succeed --- what does a professional need to know and what is the skill set required for their profession. I model that behavior and standard, and I bring in other role models either through video or personal access. As a teacher, I give the student some mental frameworks and memorable moments for building the intellectual superstructure necessary for a long term understanding of the subject. As for building expertise and skills, nothing succeeds like practice, practice, practice with regular feedback on performance - so I design the learning experience with regular assignments and opportunities for improving performance.
