Dolly's academic and professional careers have been devoted to exploring and promoting the use of steadfast design aesthetics in the digital realm to increase the effectiveness of communication. She feels the successful advancements in computational technology have become increasingly dependent upon a user’s ability to interact with that technology. Thus, her perspective is that the interdependency of design aesthetics, communicability and technology will only continue to interrelate and evolve.
Teaching Philosophy
Inspiring and strengthening students’ abilities to apply technical knowledge to a diverse array of situations both inside and outside of the academic sphere is the focus of my teaching philosophy. I emphasize a process-oriented approach through which students utilize research, stage development and testing to evolve applications. Although the basics of design are established, their application to enhance modern communication and the environments, tools, programs and languages of computing is in constant flux. Students must be prepared to successfully transition from one program to the next, one language to the next.
