Kim received her certification as a Veterinary Technician from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver. After graduation, she worked at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in the surgery department. During her time at Alameda East, she developed a passion for monitoring and administering anesthesia and participating in the operating room as a scrub nurse. Upon leaving Alameda East, Kim decided to pursue her passion for surgery and moved to northern Colorado to work for Flatiron Veterinary Specialists. There, she furthered her skills in the surgery department and became a part of the managerial team. In 2006, while working for Flatiron Veterinary Specialists, Kim began teaching part time at Front Range Community College’s Veterinary Technology Program. At FRCC, she discovered a new and exciting passion for teaching and joined the full-time faculty in 2008.
