Born and raised in Minnesota, Reno has had an interest in all things mechanical for most of his life. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, he moved to Colorado for a change of pace and the great outdoor opportunities. In 1997 he enrolled in the Automotive Technology Program at FRCC and worked in several local automotive shops including Gilsdorf Garage, Ed Carroll Motor Co, and The Motorway Ltd, a restoration facility focusing on classic British sports cars and other European exotics. The restorations he completed while at The Motorway have won both local and regional awards. Reno is an accomplished multi-instrumental musician and songwriter and has played with many different bands over the years. He also enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, fishing, and learning as much as he can about everything.
Teaching Philosophy
My goal is to teach students not only how things work, but why they work. This kind of applied scientific knowledge allows a person to understand and repair any kind of machine. I love to see students learn how to think critically and solve complex problems. The confidence they gain as they realize that they really can do it is amazing.
