We believe in giving you the strongest possible foundation for your education. Research shows that those who attend a new student orientation feel more connected and prepared during their college experience. So if you're new to FRCC, you're invited attend a new student orientation.

New Student Orientation sessions are offered in the weeks before the start of a new semester (fall, spring and summer)There are multiple options based on your campus, as well as online.

Note: For the best possible experience, we recommend that you first meet with your advisor and register for classes before attending a New Student Orientation session.

Who Should Attend?

All students who are new to FRCC are invited to attend a New Student Orientation session. While most beneficial for students new to the college environment, all students, including transfer students, guest students, and readmitted students are welcome to attend. A parent, family member or other support person is welcome to attend with their student (though no childcare is provided).

What Happens During a New Student Orientation?

During this conference style orientation, you’ll be able to pick sessions and learn about resources that will be support your personal college journey. You’ll be able to:

  • Get an overview of tools and resources to help you be successful in and out of the classroom
  • Get answers to frequently asked questions
  • Learn about options to pay for college
  • Meet FRCC staff and other new students
  • Get cool swag

Following each of the in-person orientation sessions, additional time will be available for students to complete some of their next steps and/or self-guided bingo tour of the campus.

What if All of My Classes are Online?

We want students who are taking all their classes online to be just as successful as those attending classes on-campus. Online students can attend a virtual session, an in-person session on any campus, or an asynchronous online session (tip: be sure to select the checkbox next to the course name, then select the register button).

Additionally, we recommend that online students complete the Intro to Online Learning, which will be available a couple of weeks before the start of class in the resource section of MyCourses (D2L) and will explain how to navigate the online platform and how online classes work.
