Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CAD) Degree

Offered at: Larimer, Westminster

The CAD program at Front Range Community College provides you with the training you’ll need to learn design and drafting skills used as a civil, architectural, electrical, or mechanical drafter. Whether you choose to pursue a degree or a certificate, our CAD classes ensure you’re comfortable applying the theoretical knowledge of the industry to the latest tools and technologies.

A.A.S. in Computer-Aided Drafting

60-62 credits
(4 semesters)

With this CAD degree, you will be prepared to enter the workforce as a skilled CAD technician. You'll graduate with advanced CAD skills by training on the most current CAD software. Additionally, you'll complete 2D and 3D projects with an emphasis on the unique needs of small- to mid-sized companies seeking employees with advanced and specialized computer-aided drafting skills.

You may complete a Basic CAD certificate, enter the workforce, and then return at any time to upgrade specific skills while pursuing advanced certificate offerings or an AAS degree.  

Transfer Options

Our faculty has worked closely with the University of Colorado-Boulder and Colorado State University so several CAD classes will transfer. Of course, there also are plenty of general-education classes guaranteed to transfer. As always, work closely with your advisor.

This certificate prepares you to be proficient in the use of 3D Printing & 3D Scanning software & technology using Advanced CAD modeling software specific to the industry of their choice.

Revit

(2 semesters)

To complete this certificate you need prior architectural design skills or related industry work experience. With this certificate you explore Revit software, and will become proficient in the advanced use of CAD software as one of the leading BIM tools in the architectural engineering construction industry.

This certificate program prepares you to become proficient in the use of CAD software with a focus on 3D modeling and renderings using Sketchup software skills and techniques.

To complete this certificate you need prior mechanical engineering design skills or related industry work experience.This certificate prepares you to become proficient in the advanced use of Solidworks CAD software as one of the leading parametric solid modelers in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing industry.

Basic Computer-Aided Drafting & Design

In this certificate program you'll explore CAD print reading, 2D, and 3D modeling software skills and techniques using the latest release of AutoCAD software and Google Sketchup®.
