Multimedia Technology

Front Range Community College offers multimedia, web, and graphic design programs to prepare you for positions throughout the visual communications industry. You'll gain the knowledge, skills and practical experience in graphic design and multimedia software necessary for success in the workforce as an entry level designer/producer. These digital media degrees and certificates give you the foundation to work in a variety of settings, including: traditional advertising agencies, design agencies, video production companies, and web production companies.

Graphic Design Degree

A.A.S. in Graphic Design

The Graphic Design degree program focuses on the traditional aspects of graphic design and print materials, including digital illustrations, photography, and dynamic page layouts. You'll learn how to use industry-standard design software and learn about typography, images, and the creative process involved in designing graphics that clearly present information.

Digital Animation Degree

A.A.S. in Digital Animation

The Digital Animation degree focuses on basic design concepts, basic and advanced drawing techniques, storyboarding, and 3D animation technology. It also includes a series of art courses to give you a solid foundation in graphic design.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of the program, you will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a knowledge of current design and multimedia software applications through a variety of skill-based activities
  2. Create digital designs that demonstrate design principles and processes for multimedia output.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of multimedia design as it applies to visual communication and target audience analysis.
  4. Generate graphics that emphasize effective visual communication.
  5. Design for Web that utilizes design principles, organizational and navigational planning.
  6. Be able to discuss, analyze and utilize hardware and software for multimedia.

State-of-the-Art Digital Media Facilities

In our multimedia, web, and graphic design programs, you'll work with the latest design software (including the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Cinema 4D) in our state-of-the-art labs, gaining practical experience that you’ll use in the industry. Students at the Boulder County Campus run a graphic design agency, while students at the Westminster Campus show their work at a Student Video Expo each year.

The instructors in the Multimedia Technology Program have won at film festivals, earned Emmy, Clio, and other awards, and have a breadth of professional experience.
