LPN-ADN Nursing Admissions

Before You Begin

  • Students are admitted into the LPN-ADN program by a competitive process.

Step 1:  Apply to become a student at FRCC

Step 2: Meet with an advisor

We strongly recommend that all students meet with both a Health Sciences & Wellness academic advisor and a financial aid advisor.

Step 3: Complete prerequisites

The following courses (or an equivalent transfer course) must be completed with a letter grade of "C" or higher and a minimum 3.0 GPA prior to the application semester for the program. See Notes below for information about course repeats & failures.
  • BIO1010 Biology Foundations or BIO 1111
  • BIO2101 Human Anatomy & Physiology I w/Lab
  • BIO2102 Human Anatomy & Physiology II w/Lab
  • BIO2104 Microbiology
  • ENG1021 OR ENG1022 English Composition I or II
  • PSY2440 Human Growth & Development
  • HPR1010 Dietary Nutrition (1 cr) OR HWE 1050 Human Nutrition (3 cr)
  • NUR1001 Pharmacology Calculations, OR MAT1120 Clinical Calculations, OR higher G-MAT course.
Notes:
  • BIO 2116 may be completed prior to applying, in progress at the time of application, or taken
    concurrently with NUR 2002. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in BIO 2116 before
    completing NUR 2002 in order to progress in the nursing program. Applicants who complete BIO 2116 before applying will receive additional ranking points on their application.
  • Course Repeats/Ds or Fs: If a transcript reflects two course grades of D or F (or a combination
    of) in the same course, or a combination of required prerequisite courses in the past 5 years, the applicant will be ineligible to apply to the FRCC Nursing program.
  • Applicants who have failed two or more PN or ADN courses within the last five years, or who are ineligible to return to FRCC or any other CCCS nursing program, are not eligible to apply.
  • Credit from of a transfer course must already be visible on your FRCC transcript for the
    application. Evaluations take up to 30 days to complete after the FRCC Registrar receives the
    official transcript and the Transfer Credit Evaluation Form.
  • To be considered 'official', transcripts may not be issued to the student. Transcripts must be
    mailed directly from the previous college to the FRCC Office of the Registrar.
  • All required science prerequisites must have been completed no more than 10 years prior to
    admission into the program. We will only look at the first two attempts of science courses within
    the previous 10 years and will take the higher grade.

Step 4: Program transcripts

Official transcripts from a completed LPN program are required and must be submitted with
your application.

Applicants who have failed two or more PN or ADN courses within the last five years, or who are
ineligible to return to FRCC or any other CCCS nursing program, are not eligible to apply.

Step 5: License and work experience

Upload a current State of Colorado LPN License. Expired credentials will not be accepted.

Step 6: Apply to the LPN-ADN Nursing Program

Applicants must upload the following documentation with application:

  • Unofficial FRCC Transcript
    No other
    transcripts will be accepted
  • Unofficial LPN transcripts
  • A current State of Colorado LPN license
  • Work Experience form
  • Military/Veteran Service (Optional)
    For additional ranking points, upload
    DD Form 214 or CSC card

Retain a copy of all documentation for your records. You will be notified of your placement status via the email(s) used when applying no later than 30 business days after the application deadline.
