Front Range Community College has four testing centers located at our Boulder County campus, Larimer campus, and Westminster campus. We offer a variety of tests to both students and the community. 

Please choose your campus to get information on the tests administered, hours and registration.

Boulder County Campus

Things to Know

  • All tests at the Boulder County Campus Testing Center are by appointment only and require a government-issued photo ID or current Wolf Card.
  • Placement testing must begin two hours before closing.
  • Class exams must begin no later than one hour before closing.
  • Lockers are available. You will need to lock up cell phones, watches, hats, outerwear, laptops, bags, water, and food items. Only your photo ID and approved tests are permitted in the testing room.
  • No children are allowed in the Testing Centers and they cannot be left unattended outside of the Testing Centers during testing. 
  • Contact the Testing Center if you would like to take an exam that is not listed.
  • The Testing Center is a fragrance-free facility. Our chemically-sensitive co-workers, students and testing candidates thank you.

Steps To Take Exam

  1. Review information about the exam you are taking (see list below). 
  2. Schedule A Testing Center Appointment
  3. Pay Your Proctor Fee (if applicable to your exam)
  4. Take Your Exam

    Arrive to the Testing Center 15 minutes prior to your appointment and knock. Testing center staff will escort you into the testing center at your appointment time. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will need to reschedule online.

    Don't forget to bring your required photo IDs. Please refer to your exam instructions for ID requirements.

Front Range Community College Make-Up Exams (in-person exams only)

If you're taking a make-up exam for an FRCC class that requires an in-person exam, you may take it at any FRCC campus testing center near you. Please register for your exam at the link above. Please let your instructor know that they will need to send the exam to our Testing Center at least one day prior to your appointment.  

Placement Test (Accuplacer) 

The state-required placement test will help us make sure you're signed up for the right level of classes. The first exam is free, and retakes are $5. Accuplacer study guides.

Front Range students are able to self-place into English and Math with their advisors, if you prefer. For Math higher than MAT 121 (College Algebra), please schedule an appointment for the Accuplacer test.

CLEP & DSST Exams ($25 proctor fee) 

Take these exams to earn college credit by testing out of select classes instead of devoting a semester to them. Learn more about CLEP & DSST exams. 

GED Testing

HESI Exam ($35 proctor fee)  

All nursing applicants are required to take the Elsevier HESI A-2 entrance exam, which is available at this testing center location. The HESI A2 exam is offered at this testing center (Monday - Friday only) or remote with live proctoring through Proctor U.

The Larimer Campus Testing Center is a certified testing center by the National College Testing Association 

Our mission is to follow NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines in providing a wide range of relevant examinations in a professional, secure, and positive testing environment that promotes academic and professional success to our students, employees and community members.

Tests for Classes 

If you're taking a class and need an in-person exam at the testing center, a make-up exam for example, you can take it at any FRCC campus testing center, or another approved location. For the FRCC Larimer Campus, click on the above link to set up the exam. Make sure your instructor has agreed to give us the exam for you to take.  

If you have a testing accommodation through FRCC Disability Services, you will be provided a login for testing appointments to access your accommodations through the FRCC Larimer Campus Testing Center appointment registration page.   

HESI Exam ($35 proctor fee)

HVAC ICE Exams 

If you've completed our HVAC program at FRCC, you can take your HVAC ICE exams at our testing center. Schedule A Testing Appointment

Residential AC & Heating—150 questions; six sections; 35 minutes per section; passing score is 70 on the Core section, passing score for other sections is 68 

Light Commercial AC & Heating—100 questions; two hours; passing score is 60 

Commercial Refrigeration—100 questions; two hours; passing score is 60

Online Learning 

Keep in mind that you're responsible for any fees charged by your approved testing center and the person overseeing your test must: 

  • Not be a family member, friend, tutor, or anyone else who you have an existing relationship with
  • Provide a secure, quiet, supervised area for testing (and internet access if the test is online)
  • Certify that specified time limits and test requirements or prohibitions were observed for your test
