Transfer from other US College

Apply for Admission / F-1 Visa

A transfer student is a student that is currently attending another college within the United States on an F1 student visa and wants to transfer to Front Range Community College. Transfer students will be issued a new I-20 and their SEVIS record will be maintained by Front Range Community College.

Application deadlines if you are in the country:

Summer semester May 1
Fall semester August 1
Spring semester December 15

Steps to Apply as an International Transfer Student:

  1. Apply for admission online. There is no application fee.

  2. Submit the International Student Supplemental form.

  3. Submit the International Student Affidavit of Financial Support. Note that international students must have minimum funds of $25,000 U.S. ($15,000 for tuition and $10,000 for living expenses) for the academic year. Dependents require additional financial support. If someone other than the student is providing financial support, that person must have this amount available, and their bank must provide a letter of proof on the financial institution’s letterhead or a bank statement. That person must also sign the Affidavit of Financial Support. If you are sponsored by your country and they are paying for your courses, you will need to provide a Financial Guarantee letter. *For all future semesters, if you are sponsored by your country and they are paying for your courses, you will need to have a letter sent to your Designated School Official at your campus and the Cashier’s Office prior to the payment deadline. If a letter is not received by the payment deadline you will be dropped from your courses.

  4. Submit proof of English proficiency by providing a copy of your college transcript. If you have not taken college level English you will be required to provide a copy of a TOEFL score of at least 153 computer-based, 53 Internet-based, or IELTS score of at least 6.0 or proof of completion of English through an approved Intensive English Program.

  5. Supply certified English translations of high school transcripts indicating graduation and unofficial copies of all college transcripts.

  6. International students are required to carry medical insurance while studying at FRCC. You are required to either bring a copy of your current medical insurance card and policy details, or purchase insurance prior to each semester through FRCC. See required insurance coverage.

  7. Once approved we will provide you with an acceptance letter and a transfer form. You need have your current school sign and return the transfer form to FRCC.

  8. You must schedule an appointment to meet with the Designated School Official to receive your I-20 no later than 15 days prior to the start of the semester. Be prepared to provide proof of medical insurance or purchase insurance through FRCC.

  9. If you have not taken college level math and English at an Accredited University in the United States, you will take a placement test to ensure you are placed at the correct level in math and English. You may do this in person or it is possible to have your test proctored. Please see our Testing Centers for more information.

  10. Meet with an Academic Advisor. You can e-mail Advising or meet with an advisor at the campus you wish to attend.
